That is why it is best to keep the drilling away from dense neighborhoods. Ft. Worth is dealing with this now because they allowed drilling orignally 300' from homes but now I believe it is 600' to 1000' from high density neighborhoods and the gas has to get out and can't be trucked out like the waste water can.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7973802945295732402.post-69696861495790398482008-08-04T09:27:00.000-05:002008-08-04T09:27:00.000-05:00The gathering lines would NOT be oderized, so **if...The gathering lines would NOT be oderized, so **if** there is a leak, you would not know it, unlike you do from the gas coming into your home now. Do you like the idea of gas companies declaring eminent domain on your (or your neighbors property)? The gas companies started this whole thing with "landowners rights", well, it's going to come full circle and I can't think of a more fundamental landowner right, than the right NOT to have something built on land you are supposed to own. Drill on your land, fine, but when you need a pipe on my land to get it done, now your on my domain and the free market can reign. You either pay what the market demands, or it doesn't come through.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7973802945295732402.post-45197382399919223542008-08-03T20:38:00.000-05:002008-08-03T20:38:00.000-05:00Here are some articles on pipelines and royalty ch...Here are some articles on pipelines and royalty checks. I don't trust a lot of what I hear or read from either side of this issue. After Going to DCAD and researching some names on the petition, most are backed up to "proposed drill sites", that have yet to be permitted. The opposition seems to be those with mineral rights who stand to benefit financially. After researching I don't fear the drilling rig or operation that will be there for less than thirty days per well (they don't blow up). But the pipeline... I already have an easement in my front yard for electric, transmission gas, etc. I think we have a 75 foot setback for structures so I can't build there anyway. I have yet to find a safety issue with a city regulated gathering line. Can someone clue me in to the safety problem with pipelines without a nimby perspective? If not, I'll let you folks "duke it out" over your own personal agendas. I require information, not "passion".Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7973802945295732402.post-22185609644670583402008-08-01T18:19:00.000-05:002008-08-01T18:19:00.000-05:00Are you trying to protect the 1250 that will choos...Are you trying to protect the 1250 that will choose to live there, knowing the wells are there, and purchase anyway? Why do you have to be so sarcastic. I believe these people when they say they are unhappy. Maybe they have been told that there will not be any injection wells. The last one was issued over a month and a half ago. But they do have drilling on their property and they are living with it day to day that is a true fact. I tend to believe them when they tell their story. They had nothing to gain by telling lies. Unlike the gas companies who will lose money if they can't drill. Who have millions of dollars to hire actors and pay off people to say that gas drilling in neighborhoods is great for the country and our economy. We all know none of us will get rich from signing leases on are little 1/4 acre lots. But the gas companies and developers are rich and will continue to get rich. I...There is nothing dull about our quality of life. I was in a doctors office waiting room yesterday with 2 women from wise county. They had driven in to go together to see the doctor. They told me some incredible stories. One does not own their mineral rights on their 23 acres and said the gas company showed up about 4 years ago and started drilling, giving them a small amount for damage to their property. They bulldoze about 100 trees and have never replaced them. They had to redrill a new water well because all water wells 200ft and above in the area are completely contaminated from the gas drilling. The other said they bought land to build their dream home on over 20 acres and found out they didn't own their mineral rights. Since they can't afford to sell it, no one will buy it, they are going to put their house as far away as possible from the well. Their roads have been torn up and it takes daily calls, sometimes more than once day, for weeks, to get them to do something about it. When they finally come and fix what they have done, there are new problems. Both said, if they owned their mineral rights on these decent sized property, they would of never signed. The wells are at least 1100' from their houses and they are causing many problems. They can't afford to move because they can't sell their property. They also said they have so many injection wells in the area that have had contamination accidents, the Texas Railroad commission has finally stopped giving permits in wise county for injection wells. They were glad that the gas drilling is finally getting some negative news attention. They tried years ago, but couldn't get the news media out there. All of their friends and neighbors are closely watching what is happening here in FM. This is straight from the horses mouth and I believe them more than some info commercial from Cheesy peake.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7973802945295732402.post-63904868776749611472008-07-29T01:33:00.000-05:002008-07-29T01:33:00.000-05:00Is it just me or is this blog becoming dull? The "h...Is it just me or is this blog becoming dull?

The "he said, she said" comments and metaphors run wild from blog to blog. Looks like as many as have signed the anti-drilling petition. You can bet this lawsuit will not be settled in an elected court but an appointed court. If it is in fact true that the mineral estate dominates over the surface estate, this issue badly needs court time.
