UPDATE: Flower Mound Mayor Smith and Council Member Jean Levenick Sexual Harassment Case

The Dallas Morning News reports about Flower Mound Mayor Smith and Council Member Jean Levenicks sexual harassment case.

We mentioned this last week after the January 21st Town Council meeting. Mayor Smith thinks this is a smear campaign. But, some residents were surprised that she was going to run again since last time she ran for Mayor, she said it was her last time.

It's election season, and Jody and I are both up for re-election," said Levenick, who declined to comment further.

  1. Extremely poor judgment and lack of character.

Someone should tell the mayor to ratchet down her open and public flirtations with men.

  2. Let me get this straight. Our Mayor and Councilmember Levenick admitted to pinching a Town employee "on the butt", but an investigation found that it "did not rise to the level of sexual harassment."

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!?! Our mayor and a councilmember pinch a Town employee's rear end and its ok?

No, Ms. Mayor and Ms. Levenick. It's not ok. It's bad judgment and frankly embarrassing that Flower Mound has elected a couple of juveniles.

  3. I realize this may not seem to be a big deal. But to Flower Mound residents, it is. This does show her and Levenicks character and ethics. Then to keep trying to hide the video. Does anyone know if they had to pay for the outside law firm or did the town have to pay?

  4. Mayor Smith, Jean Levenick, and the officer might not have been offended but I bet there are Flower Mound citizens who are.

  5. Sounds like someone doesn't want anyone to see the video and I don't think it is because of revealing any "undercover" identities. What is on the video must be a big deal. This is being referred to as Hineygate.

  6. The investigation into the butt-pinching incident cost the Town $10,000.

  7. What if a male councilman had pinched a female employee? You'd have a news story (complete with pictures) of a former councilmember doing a "perp walk".

  8. She does appear to flirt. Although that is not a crime. I agree it does show her true character. She was at it again at the Lantana meeting.

  9. What does this story have to do with Urban Gas Drilling? Its very clear this is a politically motivated blog that does not follow its own mission statement:

"To work in a legal, ethical, and civil manner to stop urban gas drilling in the highly residential areas of North Texas. We are not against all gas drilling, but rather that which will adversely affect the public safety, the enjoyment of our homes, and our overall quality of life. We support the need for better regulation and accountability of the Oil & Gas Industry in rural and urban areas of Texas."

  10. Apparently the Dallas Morning News felt they were related. They included the information about the conflict of interest with Williams. It has everything to do with gas drilling because it shows their character and ethics.
I don't see anywhere on the post where they are endorsing any candidates for Mayor or Council so whats your problem?

  11. The story ran in the Dallas Morning News. I am sure more people read DMN than this blog. No offense FMCAUD. Are you saying the DMN is politically motivated? Are they in on the conspiracy to oust Mayor Smith too? Get real.

  12. Anon at 2:09 pm...you're damn right. Furthermore, if I were to play grab ass with a cop I'd rightfully be busted for assault among numerous other charges.

This case proves that if you are mayor or mayor pro tem in Flower Mound, you are above the law. They know they are.

Said cop should be reprimanded if he did not go to his superiors with the mayor/mayor pro tem's behavior prior to the town's HR department becoming involved.

If he didn't, his judgment is also in question. Big time.

  13. This pinching incident is the biggest bunch of brain-dead hooey since the last Mayor used the City Hall bathroom on election day instead of doing it in the bushes.

The Potty Patrol strikes again - No doubt they were somehow traumatized in their childhood by a toilet brush.

  14. I've lived in Flower Mound for 15 years and this town is turning into one big joke. As far as the Harassment case, all should be ashamed. Including the officer that filed the case. What a joke!! We have way to many officers in this town and we need to thin them out. They are on every corner and every roadway. Most of them just harass the town residents and write little old ladies tickets while dropping little johnny off to school. The legal description of Sexual Harassment is much more than a pinch on the butt! It was a stupid move and showed poor judgement, but it sure is not sexual harassment. It's foolish politics on both sides and it reveals what our city hall and police department has become. A laughing stock to it's citizens.
