We received an e-mail from a concerned resident telling us that Cherokee Horn and Titan Engineering are going door to door asking for residents to sign a statement that they are okay with the setbacks and variances being requested on the Hilliard Property.
Please beware and do your homework. You may be signing away your right to protect and defend yourself should an accident happen in the future.
Our Mission: To work in a legal, ethical, and civil manner to stop urban gas drilling in the highly residential areas of North Texas. We are not against all gas drilling, but rather that which will adversely affect the public safety, the enjoyment of our homes, and our overall quality of life. We support the need for better regulation and accountability of the Oil & Gas Industry in rural and urban areas of Texas.
I have had about all I can take with these two companies. They are the bottom feeders of the industry. I wouldn't sign anything they put in front of me.
ReplyDeleteThese people make Williams look respectable. I have dealt with them for years and they are BAD!
ReplyDeleteCherokee Horn makes Mayor Smith look down right trustworthy. I could go into the number of lies and half truths they have spewed over the last few years, but I don't want to waste the rest of the day listing them all out.
ReplyDeleteThree questions for CH/Titan Hilliard site.
ReplyDelete1. Will the waste water be recycled on site? Thus eliminating almost all of the truck traffic and the need for toxic waste water pipes under 3ft under our neighborhoods ?
2.Will vapor recovery systems be installed?
3. Would air quality monitors be installed on the two schools? (if allowed by LISD)
I am just completely frustrated. And I doubt LISD cares at all about air quality at their schools. They have not cared about much of anything beyond their pocket books. I thought Flower Mound would be a nice place to live, but I seriously regret it. I got a letter today saying I am less than 200 yards from the proposed site at Hilliard so I had to be notified of a hearing in May to get a variance to allow drilling less than 200 yards from my home.
ReplyDeleteLisa...please send us a copy of this notification. The email address is stopthedrilling@gmail.com
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU FMCAUD enough for keeping us informed!
ReplyDeleteLisa, if the well is 200 feet from your home your voice alone could stop this variance from being granted. From what I have seen the O&G board is very reluctant from allowing variances to residences unless the resident agrees to the variance. Personally I would move if I was 200 feet from a well, but unfortunely you probably won't be able to sell your house to anyone except perhaps the driller so that they can get their well.
ReplyDeleteLisa,
ReplyDeletePlease post the date of the hearing. I don't live in Flower Mound, but would be more than happy to show up to support your opposition to the variance. This abuse needs to stop. If they can't drill within the ordinance restrictions, then they should not drill at all.
We have confirmed that Lisa's flier is a required notification from the Town's Environmental Services Department.
ReplyDeleteIt is to advise that as an "Interested Property Owner" they are being notified of a hearing to consider Titan's request to drill at Hilliard Field. (The hearing is the O&G Board of Appeals meeting schedule for May 19th; 6:30pm at Town Hall.)
This notification was sent to everyone that is within 200 feet of the boundaries of the Hilliard property.
Just remember Titan, what you do on the first well, will be paid back in-kind in reciprocity on every well you attempt after the first one.
ReplyDeleteJust got notification from the Double Oak Gas Committee that Williams is interested in continuing its discussions. DOGC is not interested in addressing environmental concern. Please tell them what you think and why these drillers won't be good neighbors: info@doubleoakgas.com
ReplyDeleteEvery community around us is suffering as well. We need to band together and force reform and regulation.
ReplyDeleteMost of you should recall that due largely through Cora Bell's relentless efforts in Corinth, the Mayor and City Council were compelled to deny not only all the requested variances, but also the drilling permits. It CAN be done.
ReplyDeleteOrdinances are in place to protect the people, and the gas companies could care less about you, your family or your property. You are simply in their way.
God only knows what false promises this operator is making to people one on one at their own doorsteps.
Think of it this way- if the operator was going door to door to get people to sign a waiver, or statement agreeing to an adult nightclub to be built a few hundred feet from your neighborhood, why would that be any different?
XTO asked for a variance on ALL city ordinances regarding gas well drilling in Corinth. The one that really caught my attention was the setback. The current setback by ordinance is 600 feet. XTO Bob asked for a variance that would permit them to drill as close as 100 feet from a home. Keep in mind, XTO applied for TWO permits to drill on 23 acres of a heavily wooded area. If those boobs from Aruba can drill two wells on 3 acres, I would think XTO could drill two wells on 23! So why the setback variance? Because they intended to drill far more than 2 wells, that's why. XTO failed to mention this in their original proposal, and is a fine example of the industry's deception.
These companies may very well be different by name, but they all use the same playbook and tactics.
When the nice man from the gas company comes knocking, ask yourself, "What's in this for my neighbors and my family?" Chances are, nothing good.
I am amazed that so many of the well informed and well educated citizens do not choose to use their names when making comments, Could it be because they are, in fact, not real people. Must be....

Flower Mound, Texas
I was just thinking that if Section 8 housing does come to Flower Mound and we have to put it in by law, the Hilliard tract would be a great place for it. I mean, we can't fight a lawsuit, that's what all the pro-neighborhood drillers say, you just lose and use taxpayer dollars. So we'll just use a little thing called eminent domain, remember that one, well, it cuts both ways. Too bad the "full market" potential of that tract will never be realized. Life is like that, sometimes you get mailbox money and other times you get Section 8 housing. It's amazing how the universe always seems to achieve balance.
ReplyDeleteWe are real Mary, you can bet on it.
ReplyDeleteMary, you recently made a big impression by your pro-drilling stance on a report by one of the local news stations. I know that you are very real and live out west of Red Rock Road, which is very RURAL. The people that care about their children that go to schools that are adjacent to URBAN drilling operations ARE well informed and educated. We are concerned for our children and our neighbors, because accidents happen as we have all witnessed by the BP spill in the Gulf. I really do not care that you and your neighbors all have their leases with Williams, but why would you go on this blog and make such an uneducated and misinformed statement simply because people do not always post their names?
