It's a beautiful day in the neighborhood video.

Welcome to Flower Mound!

  1. Ladd said it best and perfectly in one of his articles....something about a finger to all of Flower Mound as ya' drive by!

Ladd, could not agree with you more!

  3. The Cherokee Horn statement, "You'll barely even notice it is there," seems hardly applicable here.

  4. Jody Smith, Mr. Wallace, Mr Dixon and Ms. Levenick (see two posts down) are to be thanked for this lovely site.
Their decisions played a big part in this well happening. Let's not forget that come May.

  5. I just hope at least one person who signed a lease has to sell their home in the next year or so. Good luck! The only person you screwed was yourself.

  6. It is a beautiful day in Flower Mound. I see some people who had brains enough to lease their mineral rights about to start making some "MONEY". And PS, that is the "Finger" to Flower Mound and all of the anti-drilling nuts. If you had supported the land owners variances in the meeting, the wells would have been placed much farther back on the development. You nuts can think yourselves for this pretty picture. And you might want to give the CCF another thought. Unless you prefer the extra truck traffic. Have a good time with it "Suckers".

  7. anon 7:49, you are an ass. The 300 feet or so the other way would have brought this well closer to Shadow Ridge Middle School and Bluebonnet Elementary.

You are calling us nuts? You are the one who thinks it is okay to drill near children.

    ReplyDelete
  8. We do prefer extra truck traffic on the streets of Shiloh where the residents said "YES" to drilling. So they can say "YES" to trucks on their streets.

    ReplyDelete
  9. anon 7:49 - how can I take you seriously when you dont even know the proper use of quotation marks? Is it not really "money?" WTF?

    ReplyDelete
  10. The poster that seems to have little regard for the safety of children is the one who seems to like the additional truck traffic on Shiloh Road. One of you anti-drillers, I presume? Your hypocrisy is showning... again.

    ReplyDelete
  11. There are no schools in the Shiloh area AND I didn't sign a lease because I was concerned about safety. You signed a lease because you care about kids, is that your argument?

    ReplyDelete
  12. My argument is that the truck traffic on and near Shiloh, which is much greater than it would be if there were a CCF, makes it more dangerous for the children in that neighborhood. And that is a real danger, unlike the fantasy danger of leaking pipelines espoused by the anti-drillers that do not even live there. Or the fantasy danger of exploding gas wells in FM or the fantasy danger of poison gases wafting across school playgrounds.

  13. "unlike the fantasy danger of leaking pipelines espoused by the anti-drillers" see article below. It does happen!

  14. So if all of you on Shiloh were adverse to truck traffic, which is the only "real danger" according to you, why did you sign leases? A couple hundred dollars a month was worth your kids saftey?

WOW! Do you ever watch any news stations? Channel 8 covers these types of problems often.

They just did a series recently about gas couplings causing home explosions in this area.

That gas company had to start replacing all the couplings because of the investigation. People blow up and died in their homes.

    That was not fantasy.

    Again. WOW!

  16. Let’s get RID of all this ridiculous government regulation (with the specific and distinct exception of when said regulation might actually protect your own personal property or interest). REALLY? You have no problem with “Drill, Baby, Drill!” until it’s in your own backyard? I presume you also don’t want the government messing with your Social Security. Could this community actually get serious about leadership that would protect the environment and neighborhoods? I won't hold my breath. Your controversy is now featured on http://joethearchitect-tx.blogspot.com/. Love, Joe the Architect

  17. Joe, you have it all wrong. Many of us here in Flower Mound have stood with our neighboring towns and fought for better regulation and better drilling practices. We drink the water and eat the food that comes from other areas in our State. Gas drilling does not discriminate when it comes to fracking things up.

See our mission. You are entitled to your opinion but don't make assumptions that all we care about is ourselves here in Flower Mound.
    You are wrong.

    ReplyDelete
  18. The Enviro-Nazis in Flower Mound are alive and well!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Anon 8:55
I get it. It is so much more American to support an industry that is allowing foreign countries invest in our minerals that lie beneath our homes than to care about our air and water.

    ReplyDelete
  20. November 5, 2010 5:24 PM:

Have you been to the indivduals homes where drilling has ruined their personal property?

Until you visit their homes and see it for yourself it is unfair to call anyone names. Perhaps you are incorrect and they are not "Envio-Nazis."

All are very nice people who will graciously give you a tour.

  21. The above comment was meant for Nov. 6, 2010 at 8:55 p.m; not for Nov. 5, 2010 @ 5:24.

  22. "Enviro-Nazis"...oh right, the 60% of the people who voted against drilling next to neighborhoods in a 71% Republican county, that's right they are ALL enviro-nazis. The only extremists posting on here is you.

    ReplyDelete
  23. You guys just don't get it. The majority of this community supports leadership with an anti-establishment/small govt regulation platform. Until. Until said policy affects YOUR community or YOU personally. The oxymoron that is Flower Mound.
Less government...(but reserve the right to call for more, when you have need of it). This could be a new Repub motto. Love, Joe the Architect (http://joethearchitect-tx.blogspot.com/)

  24. And to Another Concerned Citizen (post of November 6, 2010 2:07 PM), I don't have it all wrong. I love your mission statement. That's what got me started! It's a total double standard. I mean…to paraphrase: We’re not against gas drilling per se…we just need more REGULATION and ACCOUNTABILITY. Really? Really?--Love Joe the Architect

  25. First of all, I wanna say i got family trying to make a living on that rig.. Second, when those wells are drilled they produce the gas that heats your home... You can complain all you want but looks to me they are punching these holes anyway and your wasting your time.. In fact all your doing is slowing the process and now they will be your nieghbors longer.. They could take a week and a half to drill and get out, now you have extended the stay and made a mess.. All i got to say is f***,fight, and trip some pipe!!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Mr. Hilton,
I have a family trying to go to school next to wells. Live next to wells.
I feel for the people working these rigs too. They are more exposed to the crap than those of us living near them.
We are asking for better drilling practices. Electric rigs and compressors, vapor recovery and emission control, chemical free fracking fluids etc.
Everyone will benefit from this...even your family members who work in the industry.
Don't you think they deserve to work in a safe and healthy environment?
Until that can be done, gas companies should not be allowed to drill.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Tommy, I'm trying to make a living too, my career doesn't put your family in danger nor does it lower your property value, please give me the same consideration.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I like Joe the Architect. Oh, he is probably a moron for his politics, but at least he is an honest moron, unlike the uber-hypocritical FM anti-drilling crowd. How many of you NIMBY twits have actually stopped using natural gas?

    ReplyDelete
  29. Anon 12:17. I don't know about you but most of our homes in Flower Mound are mostly electric. In fact, I don't cook, wash, etc with natural gas. I can't stand it. Always been afraid of explosions.

I am not a NIMBY, I live at least 3miles from a well. But I don't think anyone should have to live, work or go to school next to a well.

Come up with a better way to extract it and I might think about changing my mind. If my HOA allowed solar panels, I would do it in a heartbeat. We should be looking at alternative energy that does not involve fossil fuels anyway.

Oh yeah, don't call me un patriotic either. I served many years in the military. So you can save your breath on that tired old statement.

  30. @Another Concerned Citizen -- "We believe in freedom of speech"!? That's such a crock! You haven't approved a single one of my comments because I support Mr. Dixon and Mr. Wallace and am not afraid to say it!

Before you start pointing fingers at all the hypocrites in this town, just remember there are three more pointig back at you.

    ReplyDelete
  31. anon 3:04. There you go. I don't remember any of your posts being denied because you never use your real name.

You stated, "I support Mr. Dixon and Mr. Wallace and am not afraid to say it!"

If you are not afraid to state it, why did you post ANONYMOUS???

You ARE afraid to state it or you would state your name!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Well, I'd love to tell you my name but I'd like to keep my job. So thanks, but no thanks.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Don't you just love stat counter? FYI......In addition to freedom of speech, we believe in not revealing IP addresses of people who comment. Unless they are threatening. Then we turn them over to the police.

  35. >>Well, I'd love to tell you my >>name but I'd like to keep my >>job. So thanks, but no thanks.

    A crazy-enviro-wacko employs you?

    ReplyDelete
  36. What is the point to drill shale gas now when the gas prices are so low? Wouldn't it be better to use foreign gas and let our gas stay down there until there really is need to use it? It would give time to develop cleaner and more efficient technology.

Due to the low market price the mineral rights owners get lower royalty, the gas is pumped into old wells and sold for higher profit once the prices get higher.

    ReplyDelete
  37. Only a few "obvious" people in Flower Mound will make alot of money from drilling here. All these little lease holders who signed a lease that have a house built on a tiny square piece of property will not. Your checks will not be enough money to cover one doctors office visit. It may cover a small office co-pay.

Only where the rig goes up is the person who makes the money.

    ReplyDelete
  38. It is so hard to think that people can be so ignorant. I was raised around oil and gas fields all of my life and have never met a soul who had ever been seen by a doctor that claimed they were sick due to a gas well. Now I wont disagree with you as far as drilling close to a school. Not because they will get sick but the danger of a rig and what could possibly happen.(Blow Out).I saw a report done by a company (cant remember the name but will find out and post) that benzine amounts were higher from big trucks and trains than the 600 wells the moniters wer put on. By the way it was done by an independent company hired by the city of Fort Worth and not an oil company. It seems that the only ones that are having a fit are the ones who dont have any mieral rights. I own mine and 200 acres and I didnt let them drill. So go buy your mineral rights and you can keep them away from you
