Flower Mound Town Council Special Meeting and Work Session

Mark your calendars for Thursday night and attend the Flower Mound Town Council Meeting. The council will most likely discuss the independent air quality testing done by Kleinfelder.

There has been talk about the results from the Texas Department of Health Services Leukemia and Lymphoma Cancer Cluster Study might be presented. As of today I was told by a representative of the TDHS, the following information.

The Flower Mound report has been delayed because of all the media action. This has gone all the way to the Governor’s office and the legislature. Because of all that, the report has received a lot of study and scrutiny before release. It was ready to go before Spring Break, but because several key people were out last week, it is supposed to be released this week. They are still editing it as we speak.

I asked if the study would be opened back up to include the years 2008-2009 and I was told this info.

The study will be updated next year to include more recent data.

Show up, speak up and wear green.

  • When: Thursday, March 25, 6pm – 10pm

  • Where: Town Hall, 2121 Cross Timbers Road, Flower Mound, TX

  1. I'm sure pre-prepared statements from the O&G industry will be ready to go and released a millisecond after this report is released to the public no matter what it says.

  2. So the study won't show the kids diagnosed in the last two year????

  3. It's my understanding that this cancer cluster study is also going to include childhood brain cancer sub-types. This is from an email exchange with those conducting the study back in early February.

And, as was written in the blog entry, I've been told "cases diagnosed from 2008-2009 will be tracked to see if there are trends we should be aware of."

In my opinion, whatever results are found in the 1998-2007 study, there's little doubt that anecdotal evidence would dictate that this study will be revisited once 2008 statewide cancer information is available.

  4. The majority of the 10 or 11 child and adult cases that have been made public were diagnosed after 2007. I hope they revisit this next year.

  5. Anon. 5:48. I believe the children and adults diagnosed after 2007 will not be included in this study. The TDHS said they would not have complete data for 2008 and 2009 till next year.
Lets hope they update this study next year.

  6. let's hope these kids will still be alive by the time the study is 'revisited'.....

When they say 'edited' think 'redacted'...some lobbyists must have gone into overdrive when they heard about this. Hope no one at the TDHS lost their job over this one...
