Wait, hold everything, the election is over, but I seem to remember some people saying the Mayor was "fear-mongering" and that none of this legislation would see the light of day and was "dead" to use their words.
What a difference a couple of weeks makes.

Anon 8:13, you make a very good point. Mayor Northern has spent quite a bit of time in Austin. She knows how these bills can be brought back to life.
Thanks Mayor Northern

SB 875 passed and is waiting for Perry to sign.

Texas House District 63, Flower Mound, Tan Parker voted for it.

Texas Senate vote is not displayed, but passing 23 to 7, you can guess that Chris Parker, Senate District 9 voted for it.

If the driller has a permit, they can pretty much spill and pollute without lawsuits from the landowner.

...but remember, Tan Parker as stated in a local newpaper was way out ahead of this issue, yeah, for the industry. Thanks for protecting our homes Tan, nice job.

I suggest the first spill be in Tan Parker's back yard.

According to an aide in Parker's office, it's all about compromise in Austin. Even when it comes to risking people's health and property rights?

Mellany, you are so right. Tan himself said that in so many words when Calvin, Sharon and I met with him last year.
It was bit disappointing. Too bad "compromise" is more important than "the right thing to do" when our health and safety is at risk.

Compromise? When was the last time the gas industry compromised on anything in the Barnett Shale? Oh, maybe he means they compromised our health, safety, property values....

This last State election was so disappointing that our District Senators and Rep to the County Commissioners had no opponents. If you are as fed up as I am with "compromise" and not doing the morally right thing, let's all change that in 2012.

Are you running Mellany?
