It's just plain STEALING !!

Many (if not most) of us have experienced the theft of our "Just Say NO to Urban Drilling" signs. And if you're like me and have replaced them--you've likely had then stolen again and again.

While some might attribute this to simply unrelated actions of a bunch of kids--I'm not so sure.

I think it's interesting that our adversaries in this fight would even consider stooping to such measures. Do they think that if they steal all the signs, it will suddenly be OK to bring gas drilling (heavy industry) into our beautiful neighborhoods? Doesn't this say that they're afraid of "free speech?"

I know that the "dark side" reads this blog. So here's my comment for them...Just keep stealing signs...it doesn't matter. We're not giving up and letting you destroy our neighborhoods so that you can make a few bucks.

To those of you who are part of this fight. I have purchased HUNDREDS of signs and "Just Say NO" bumper stickers.

Email me at stopthedrilling@gmail.com or rebeccajbelcher@yahoo.com and we'll get you as many signs and bumper stickers as you need.

Remember, this is all about education and one of the best ways to educate your neighbors and friends is with a sign or a bumper sticker. Something that will make them ask, "what's all this urban drilling talk about?"

And one last thing, if someone takes your sign, it's just plain STEALING and there could (and should) be legal consequences.

I too have had my sign stolen. I find it interesting that the "Naturally Gas" signs have not been stolen. If someone is targeting the anti drilling group, this is a crime and someone should be punished. On top of that, it is just unethical and childish. If I catch anyone taking my sign again, I will take names and numbers and call the police. I agree, stealing my sign won't make me stop fighting for what I believe in.

The "dark side"?

Your strategy of rallying the neighborhood has backfired. Instead you have made enemies of your neighbors. Taking evening strolls just isn't going to be the same anymore, and we have you to blame for it.

You have destroyed our neighborhood, Belcher. You and your posse did this. You invited crime into our neighborhood...there is a direct correlation to your actions and boisterous mouth.
(Which incidentally, has been running 24/7 at 60db, longer than any drilling rig would have)

What an ridiculous statement to make. I can't speak for anyone else, but all of my "neighbors", even those who disagree are still neighborly and I still respect their opinion, they aren't wrong, they just have a different opinion. You could put any 2 people in the whole world together and they could find something to agree and disagree about. This didn't ruin the community any more than a republican living next to a democrat does, give me a break. There are many people who have met people they never knew before this. How is forming new relationships detrimental to the community?

I believe we have something in our HOA bi-laws that prohibits both kinds of signs (and politcal support signs too) so maybe we should all just get rid of them. The neighborhood would look nicer.

If you want to steal my Barnet Shale sign, please go ahead. It was worth the $200 to put it up but I could do without the clutter.
BTW - if you're willing to pay $200, you can put a Just Say No sign in my yard right next to theirs. :>)

One statement "FREEDOM OF SPEECH". It is everyone's right (including Ms. Belcher's). I have a friend who has signed a lease. That is her right to do so? Yes. Do I agree with her? No, but are we still good friends? Yes. We have spent many years agreeing and disagreeing on topics. To the person who feels this has ruined their neighborhood...grow up and act like a mature adult.

Right, down with the ugly signs and up with the rigs and permanent compressor stations, wonderful logic. I actually like the fact that you are getting money for the signing bonuses and signs, anything we can do to lower their profit margins is fine by me.

As an anti urban drilling person, the anti drillers are really starting to embarasss me with their posts. Have a logical debate or keep quiet, please.

I just have to post in reply to the last statement. Embarrassed? Read all the posts and you will see that the negative always starts with an attack on the anti drillers having to defend every post on this blog. It is too bad that you can't handle a debate without getting emotionally upset. What seems logical to one may not to another. It is an opinion period! I think we can safely say that everyone has one and has the right to express it.

Now I am even more embarassed

Dear 2%,
The average person uses 10% of their brain but I’m giving the benefit of doubt that you actually use 2%.

Since you compare Mrs. Belcher’s mouth to the noise emitted from a drilling rig, might I suggest that your head be better served as the drill bit since you obviously don't use it for thinking and I'm sure it's hard enough to break the shale. It should be a crime having someone of your intellect speaking on such a topic since it requires thought.
