It probably will be for them. Another 80-100 leases went through the county courthouse today. Over 900 so far in 2008.

Fine, get the leases. Pay out those "signing bonuses". They will still need the variances to be able to drill and I assure you that will NOT be a "rubber stamp" process.

Look who's signing those leases. It's people that live quite some distance from the Northshore site.

Do these people have any idea of the impact that this will have on those that live close to Northshore? I guess not. Or, maybe they just desperately need $500.

I for one will NEVER trade my (or my neighbor's) health, safety, or quality of life for a lousy $500.

Many of them do live quite a distance from the drill site. They will need those of us that surround the drill site to sign so they can drill to get to these areas of signed leases. I can assure you that they won't get my signature!!!!!

Quite a few of those 80 - 100 leases where for another neighborhood in Lewisville near Central Park. Cherokee Horn is giving them the same lies they have given us.

the Unites States economy needs our help in cutting our foreign trade on oil. natural gas is our only hope with an actual "energy plan"

I am sorry for those of you who live close to drill site or feel as though your health will be in jeopardy. i understand where many of you are coming from but for the rest of us we feel obligaed to our county to do what is right. It's not like a nuclear reactor is going in next door. Please keep things in perspective.

Once any of these companies have reached their target leasing number they will drill regardless.

Trust me, blogging about it or putting skeletons in trees isn't going to do a thing. It seems like a waste of time to me...but thats just my opinion.

I agree, let't keep it in perspective. Natural gas will not save the country nor the economy. The royalty checks will not allow you to quit your job. Natural gas is not the only alternative fuel source out there (in fact, it's worse than many of the alternatives, including nuclear) Natural gas does not feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and it cannot walk on water (it does contaminate it nicely though).

Well if you feel obligated to do whats right then lets trade houses when they start drilling and you can live next door to it. Here is how I keep things in perspective....What I feel obligated to is conserving energy, working hard everyday to keep a roof over our heads and food on the table (gas drilling royalties won't help much there), making sure our neighborhoods are safe for everyone, be sure our children get a good education and that they live in a HEALTHY environment. Gas drilling can go on but it should always stay out of highly populated neighborhoods. Period.

"Once any of these companies have reached their target leasing number they will drill regardless" - 10 months and counting, if it was such a slam dunk, why aren't they drilling already?

I find this picture in very poor taste. It's disgusting that this group claims to do things "legally", "ethically", blah blah blah. This picture is proof that your tactics are bullying and intimidating. Period. Regardless of where I stand on this issue, I do not and will never allign myself with you exactly for this reason.
