Follow up on last week's O&G Board of Appeals meeting

Just a couple additional details related to the denial of the variance request for a compression facility near the Rockpointe Church....

--The vote was a 3 to 3 tie, with the Board's chairperson breaking the tie by voting against approving the variance.

--Concerns were raised about the proximity of the proposed site to the church, as well as to the unknown dangers of the chemicals used in drilling.

--Turnout was very light.

Please get your facts correct. Your vote numbers are wrong. There was no concern about drilling because the well in question was already drilled. In fact it was the 2nd well ever drilled in Flower Mound. I am an avid anti-urban drilling advocate, but this report is just sad display. Get it right if you're going to post it. I know you weren't at the meeting and you had someone representing you, but still you need to get it right if you want anyone to respect your opinion.

All I can say is that two people gave me virtually the same input and that is exactly what I posted. (You are correct--I was out of town and unable to attend the meeting.)

If you would like to prepare a report of the meeting, please email it to me and I'll post it.

Anyone that has read this blog for any length of time knows that I am very careful about what I post and that if I make a mistake (and I definitely have), I correct it immediately.

Thank you,

Rebecca, how would you know if you have wrong information unless you're corrected? Perhaps your sources should listen a little more carefully, or check in with the city for the facts yourself. The first response was correct, this well was already in production for sometime - no drilling was mentioned during the meeting. You need to learn how to accept constructive criticism if you are going to be in the public light.

Just an observation but I wouldn't call the first poster's correction of Ms. Belcher's posted info constructive. It sounded a bit hostile. Maybe it would have been better to say ... "I attended the meeting and some of the information you received may be incorrect." I know for a fact Ms Belcher appreciates receiving information to post here from other sources. She does her best to check it out and make sure it is accurate. If you found something incorrect, you should contact her directly and I know she would make the necessary changes to the information. Sometimes people make mistakes. Even those in the public light.

I sure did and they learned to have respect for others.

I live in south texas on a large ranch where ExxonMobil, Chevron, El Paso, and Sierra Resources operate. It is such a chaotic mess. I decided to make a website:
www.RanchoLosMalulos.com
I want people to know how these companies really operate. I live here. I take the photos, I make the videos. The ground water is contaminated. There has been illegal dumping. Exxon and Chevron have been here since 1938. I have been hearing about the new stuff going on in your area. I hope that people understand how important it is to have a good lease with strong termination language and a TERM. Not just "for as long as there is production." Don't expect that the government is going to keep an eye on things. Oil and gas are great but companies will do whatever they can get away with. Be vigilant.

I just went to the above website and was shocked. Drilling isn't the only dirty thing about oil and gas. It is an eye opener for just how bad things are because the TRC doesn't regulate properly. This is a huge ranch with no residents near the sites. Just imagine homes 500' to 1000' from this mess.

Gotta break some eggs to make an omelet, baby.

If the eggs are some kids head, your going to be making jokes out of the backside, oh nevermind, as if I don't need another reason to stop being a Republican. I'm just about as pro-business (and pro-BIG business) as you can get, but there ARE some companies that just have too much power and are drunk with it.

From the Flower Mound website: "If you happen to see emergency vehicles on FM 1171 in the west end of Flower Mound next Monday morning, don’t be alarmed – it is only a training exercise. Town firefighters and emergency management personnel are teaming up with employees from Williams from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. on December 8 at a natural gas compressor site in Flower Mound. The event is a simulation of an emergency. At no time will there be any danger to the public or those responding. The full-scale exercise gives everyone a hands-on opportunity to practice their response plans. For more information, call 972.874.6270" ----Alarmed, why would I be alarmed, for months we've had it crammed down our throats that this is "perfectly safe". Thank goodness they are contingency planning for something that is "perfectly safe". For those who respond in these types of disasters, God bless, for those who create these kind of disasters, well, if you can't say anything nice...

Drilling is set to begin in Flower Mound at another new location just east of the corner of 3040 and 2499. Rumor has it that the drill bit will touch the earth in just 4 months!

With "drainage" on everybody's minds these days, maybe some of the gas in Northshore will be extracted. Let's find out, can't wait!

That is interesting since nothing is on the gas well status report about this site yet. I am sure there will be some variance needed depending on how close it will be to the Middle School and homes so it will have to go before the O & G board.

Looks like its verified. You were wrong...the meeting minutes are posted on FM's website. You'd better start getting your people to pay attention during the meetings otherwise citizens are going to brand this blog as bogus. I don't care what information you received it was wrong and you need to post a correction...again vote count incorrect and drilling comments not addressed since it was drilled years ago.

Since you seem to dwell on the mistakes, maybe you could do something constructive and offer your note taking services to Mrs. Belcher next time. I don't believe you are an anti urban drilling advocate, if you were you would of contacted Mrs. Belcher and given her the correct info.

Think what you like. I am anti-urban drilling. But if you expect all anti-urban drilling advocates to subscribe to posts of false information and support your lack of fact finding missions then this organization will self implode. I would expect corrections to be posted just like an editor would for a false story posted in a newspaper.
