One Step Forward, Three Steps Back...

Is anyone else experiencing Deja Vu? Last night our new council had the audacity to appoint Jean Levenick to Place 5, the seat Tom Hayden left to run for Mayor. We heard it was a unanimous. So  basically we have the same majority we had during 2008-2010, (Bryan Webb will now play the role of Mike Wallace).

For us here at FMCAUD, this brings back memories of the "old" days when council members said one thing and did another AND Disrespected their office and the people of Flower Mound. (Don't forget to read the comments.) Apparently, it seems others are shocked and angered by this decision since we have received many phone calls and emails on this topic today.

There really isn't anymore to say that can express our disappointment in this selection when there were so many qualified prospects to choose from. Click here for a link to all information on Jean Levenick that has been posted on this blog.

Why would anyone want to take one step forward and three steps back?

I was shocked at the way votes were cast in the last election. Given the results, this appointment does not shock me. Apartments at Lakeside will not shock me.
Zoning changes coming soon.

Deja vu all over again. What a screwed up thing this has turned out to be and I hope that all the people that turned so vehemently against NFL will think twice about what has happened here. This is a betrayal that exceeds all betrayals. This is so sad for the sincere people who worked hard on the petition and the 6,000 that supported the effort only to watch this go up in smoke in three short weeks.

4-0 vote? WTF is Mark Wise thinking? Good Grief.

When FMCAUD played out this scenario as a hypothetic using Mike Wallace as the appointee (who also has a pro-gas record but at least is actually degreed, has work experience, and has never been accused of sexual harassment of a town employee), we heard it could never happen with Hayden, Stephenson and Wise on Council. Those three colluded in not creating a new and better Council but in reinstating the old regime as the new majority. FMCAUD - you were right again! You should have titled this post, "I TOLD YOU SO!"

They were willing to overlook her pro-gas record and other numerous issues to get someone willing to put in the necessary long hours on Council. Filidoro and Northern put in 25 and 40 hours a week, respectively. Every last member of the current Council is unwilling to do that. Until his recent change of heart, Tom Hayden was heard to have said he did not want to be Mayor or ProTem because he didn't want to work that hard. Stephenson doesn't show up for all the meetings she is suppose to. Wise appears regularly so uninformed he must not even read the packet before the meeting. They are serving their own needs. They want their Mayor and Council titles and the accompanying prestige and/or business opportunities without the effort. Because of their lack of commitment, Jean will wield even more power than a 1 of 5 vote. She will be the voice of the new majority. Tom Hayden, you didn't think they would really let you be in charge did you?

No recent change of heart by Hayden in regard to wanting to be mayor. This was a well-orchestrated plan that went into play over two years ago and he never kept it a secret that he wanted to be mayor. Just ask any of his friends, as he has a big mouth. And this all would have played out sooner had the economic recession not occurred beginning late 2007. Someone nailed it when they called Hayden a sleeper cell.

It wasn't that long ago when Tom Hayden regularly referred to Jean Levenick as a member of the "Wack Pack." His glowing praise of Levenick's service this week is in stark contrast to his past expressed distain for this woman. Why do people trust this guy and what is really behind his recent and sudden change of heart?

We all have to ask the same thing about Tom. He told me that Jody Smith cussed him out before a Town Council meeting over the Seniors In Motions Auxillary group when they were trying to establish their 501 c 3. He said that Jean sat in a chair next to him stone faced why Jody was ranting that Flower Mound was her town. Yes. Tom has told many people many things, so what is the truth and what is his agenda?

I feel bad for the town but also am glad those former NFL supporters that Hayden fed a bunch of lies are now able to see how it all works. He's been just as privately disdainful of them as the other poster wrote he has been about Levenick. He's even bragged about how he likes to put on a show for these people at Council meetings acting like he's spontaneously thoroughly questioning town staff when in fact he has given staff the questions in advance, so they can prepare answers. He then can say, "I tried." He's a politician, not a leader.

Tom is a politician and not a leader. I seriously doubt the story that Jody "cussed him out." Tom knows no loyalty and certainly knows no truth.

The information that you shared is very hurtful indeed, as a lot of really good, sincere people--on both sides-- have been hurt through all of this over the past three years, so that one can politically gain.

The truth will prevail and in the meantime, we can be kind to one another.
