Our very own Al Filidoro said it at the recent Town Council Meeting. Here is an article from Downwinders at Risk about the cities that have adopted the Fair Share Plan resolution. Flower Mound approved a resolution Monday night and Southlake discussed it last night. Southlake will put it to a vote on June 7th.

So why is that so many people who are against urban drilling in Flower Mound want to throw out Councimember Al Filidoro? It is my understanding that they want to throw out the mayor and other councilmembers who have fought so hard to have tighter regulations over gas drilling. As a neighboring community resident, Flower Mound's current government and staff only seem to be working hard against the dangers of gas drilling, but the people that claim to be fighting against urban drilling only want to kick them to the curb. All I can say is that we wish we had your leadership in our city.

Your guess is as good as mine. This is what happens when you are too successfull in driving out special interest politicians who sided with outside drilling interests. None of their candidates bothered to show up, so we were left with in-fighting.
I wouldn't say "so many". We have the "old council (who got us in this mess) pro drilling" supporters who have a case of sour grapes because they got their butts kicked in last years election.
Good point anon 9:50am, we'll never really know how many of Kendra's "supporters" would NOT have voted for her if it was the 2010 election. I think it is safe to say that at least 41 were though.

It was apparent that the newly elected town council member Kendra Stephenson was heavily supported by the former pro-drilling mayor and council, along with Roy Morris, the attorney who brought forth HB 3105. Stephenson had lead the fight against the old pro-drilling regime in 2009 and 2010, but for some reason has recently joined forces with the Drill, Baby Drill crowd. Go figure?
I agree with Anon, May 18 8:47 a.m. Why is the vocal group from Flower Mound, who are supposedly against urban drilling, going against their current Council? We would love to have Melissa Northern as our mayor, along with the other councilmen who have fought hard to keep drilling away from your schools and neighborhoods. See the link to the article below of what we face here in Southlake. Be grateful for your leaders Flower Mound!

Do your think that there will be a show-down between Terry Welch and Roy Morris, since Mr. Morris will probably now be tapped for legal advice regarding the Town's authority to govern itself?
I agree. I believe the pro drillers got behind Kendra to get her elected.
Southlake Resident, what you are going throught is like deja vu for some of us in Flower Mound. We just posted about the link you sent us.
Of course Mr. Morris will know EVERYTHING going on legally behind closed doors, Kendra will tell him so he can plan for the future. You didn't think those signs on his prime properties didn't come without a price? Rest assured, this resident will be watching for any Quid pro quo.
I had to look up Quid pro quo.
Now I get it. It means something for something. This term is typically used in financial circles to describe a mutual agreement between two parties in which each party provides a good or service in return for a good or service.

anon 1:22. I hope that is not the case. It is better for all of us to wait and let the new council get to work.
Anon 3:46. Agree, there is a lot of work to be done. I believe the council is committed to protecting the people of Flower Mound. That includes our Mayor Melissa and all the council members. I don't want to waste their time with drama.
I'm not sure where you are getting your information. Kendra is not pro-drilling. She is for more regulation.
Right, more regulation to "unify mineral owners and surface owners" which equals more drilling. What exactly do minerals give up then? Nothing.
@Anon May 19, 6:19 a.m.
So Kendra is for more regulation and long-range drilling? That is an oxymoron. Also interesting to hear one of Kendra's supporters say that they would not vote for Mike McDaniel for LISD School Board because he might consider leasing school minerals if drilling did not pose any risk. Sounds as though she has oxy-moron supporters, too.
Short-range or long-range lateral drilling. They both do not take toxic emissions or contaminated water out of the equation. People in Flower Mound have seen so much pandering in so little time. And the sad thing? It worked.
