Flower Mound "almost" adopts Moratorium

Today we heard that Council Member Wallace was going to change his mind and join with Council Members Filidoro and Hayden to call a special meeting Monday night at 5:00pm. At this meeting, they were going to pass a moratorium on all new gas drilling production permits.

Hayden and Filidoro both confirmed that they were called by the town and asked about their availability for this meeting.

Then for some reason, the meeting was cancelled after Council Member Wallace met with Mayor Smith. We can only hope that Council Member Wallace re-considers again and votes to enact the moratorium.

Stay tuned.

Smith needs to go! I have never in my life called anyone evil but . . . if the shoe fits.

Just wait, she is about to turn on the charm. Don't beleive it. Just let the last 6 years show what and who she really cares about.

I don't care which side of this issue you are on, everyone should feel for Mr. Wallace. To have this entire thing fall on his head, he is in my prayers.

Why should I feel for him: he should have voted for a moratorium in December. He needs to do the right thing now - period. No pity here. Do the right thing - that is what we all are called to do. He is no differenct. Why should he get my pity.

In my opinion Mr. Wallace chose his path. He made his own decissions just as ALL the councilmembers and the Mayor have done. For whatever reason, Mr. Wallace appears unable to handle the pressures of this particular situation. Other councilmembers have sustained more pressure, as well as public attacks than Mr. Wallace has experienced.

The earlier comment is well made about "turning on the charm." Let's see if she comes forth now to look like the hero.

Does anyone know if Melissa Northern is running for mayor. Seems to me her time is almost up to officially proclaim this and file to be on the ballot. It is making me nervous. Does she realize she has to file with the town and let people know she is running. I would donate money to her if I knew she was running.

It sounds to me like Councilmember Wallace needs to spend less time collecting "certificates of achievement" and more time representing the people who elected him.

So it was Jody Smith who stopped Wallace or Wallace didn't had enough guts to stand up??
Jody Smith is wrong if she think she can win by avoiding the moratorium in the May ballot.By refusing/ delaying the moratorium she and her cronies are exponentially loosing public support. If she had gracefully accepted the petitioners request on moratorium, she stood a better chance in May elections, but not any longer. A sure massive career defeat if she decides to run for another term.

No surprise here! Wallace is interested in Wallace. He most probably has his own political ambitions and is simply using the Council for that purpose. Never liked the guy and I am very happy I did not vote for him! At least there are 2 "fully equipped men" on board Filidoro and Hayden. Neither are intimidated by obvious bashing nor systematic turn downs of their motions. As far as Dixon is concerned I will always support him because of his ongoing community engagement. I am disapointed in his "lack" of support to this particular issue but he remains a true gentleman and loyal to Flower Mound. Northern Now!

Define "community engagement?" Are you talking about Dixon's involvement in Flower Mound? If so, I would tread lightly because you compare their activities Wallace's family does far more in the community and is more actively involved.
