Breaking News from Dish, Texas: Moratorium!

Last night the Town of Dish officials voted to enact a moratorium on all and any new drilling permits.

Click here to read Peggy Heinkel-Wolfe's report on the moratorium. Here are a few Mayor Tillman's quotes from the article within the town limits.

“I’ve asked them to shut down,” Tillman said. “Short of an injunction, that’s all we can do.”

“This [ordinance change] is just a start to get what we need,” he said.

In a recent WFAA report, Mayor Tillman had this to say.

"It is clear that the State of Texas is not going to take appropriate action to protect the citizens of DISH; therefore, it is up to the local municipal government to take these steps,"

Mayor Tillman and the Town of Dish have chosen to put the health and safety of their residents before $$$$!!

So, the Town of Flower Mound cannot afford a lawsuit, but the Town of DISH, pop 200, can? Nice!

I see the Titan goons are roaming the neighborhood like they own it or even live here.

Well they certainly think they own it but you can bet none of them want to live here.

Dish is just now doing this? Their Mayor was in Flower Mound asking Flower Mound to impose a moratorium when Dish did not even have one. What?????

The Town of Dish issued a cease and desist request to the gas companies quite a while ago but they ignored it. Also, they did not have any new applications for permits until recently. So the moratorium was the next step. It is only on new permits not on any existing activity.
This little Town has also been threatened with lawsuits over and over again.
Mayor Tillman has been busy trying to get air quality tests and health tests done for his residents.
I believe Mayor Tillman asked Mayor Smith to "listen" to the residents and do more research before letting more gas drilling activity come into the Town. He warned Mayor Smith and the council that he heard the same promises from every gas drilling company doing business in Dish before the activity started and these companies broke everyone of those promises.

The gas companies also made a public request for the names of all of the doners to the town's legal defense. Hmmmm, I wonder what they will use that for. Nothing nefarious, I'm sure. ;)

"Breaking News from Flower Mound: TCEQ Releases Air Sampling Reports!" -- Two sites IN FLOWER MOUND were tested with full canister analysis by TCEQ and benzene concentration was LESS THAN 1 Part Per Billion at BOTH SITES! One site returned 0.16 PPB and the other site returned 0.17 PPB. Check out the Town of Flower Mound website for links to both laboratory analysis reports. http://www.flower-mound.com/news/news.php#tceq020910

Yeah, wait till they build the CCF, drill the 100 wells and put in all the compressor stations.
Since they only tested two sites, I would hope they didn't find anything.
I heard that one of the sites wasn't even in production at the time of the testing.

Right, Just 2 sites, that they had what, 6 months to clean up before the testing. Snails could clean up those 2 sites faster than that.

I bet the sample was not taken when the sites were venting.
