If it is true, as Jean states in her announcement, that there have been "personal attacks" against her children, that is truly despicable.

But, with that said, it should be made clear that the two recent questions related to Jean's judgment--her signing of the Williams' lease and not recusing herself from related Council votes as well as the "pinching" incident--those are not personal attacks. They are simply questions of her judgment based upon facts.

Public officials don't get a free pass on this type of thing. They should know that they will be under intense scrutiny while they are in office and they have to act accordingly.

Having children, I do understand that we want to protect them. But, she made the decision to not recuse herself and to pinch a mans @$$ in Town Hall.

Sometimes as parents, we have to stop and think about what we do and how it will affect others around us.

Ms. Levenick may not of thought some of this through.

You can bet pro gas knew of this decision and has a candidate already lined up.

I don't believe Ms. Levenick had a snowball's chance of winning re-election anyway, but she's entitled to spinning her reasons for not running any way she likes.

We just need to make sure that whoever takes her spot on town council behaves in a professional manner at all times, and listens to, and represents, the will of the majority of our town's citizens.

It's an extremely important duty and unfortunately for most of us, she wasn't up to the challenge.

Nice spin, nobody is buying it.

I’ll bet you $20 that the "personal attacks" against her children were from other kids at school.

Teenage kids are embarrassed by the fact that they even have parents. Can you imagine their horror when they found out that their Mom pinched a guy’s butt?

And that it’s on videotape?

And that everyone in Town knows about it?

It is safe to assume that any one running against Steve Lyda for this place will be pro gas.

I don't think it is safe to assume that at all. Before making up your mind that a candidate is pro/anti gas, let's wait and see what he/she has to say. Just because Lyda is Filidoro's whipping boy doesn't mean he is the best fit. Before you slam me, I am against urban gas drilling.

Anyone who shares the same opinions and ideas as Al Filidoro is the right candidate for me. Both Filidoro and Tom Hayden have stepped up to protect this town. If Lyda had beat Dixon, the outcome on Jan 21st would of been different. Now we have to spend countless hours trying to undo what the Zoning and Planning Board and and certain members of our Town Council have done.

You can't listen to what the candidates have to say to really know where they stand. They say what we want to hear. One of Dixon's platform items was, "Respect the interests of ALL residents of Flower Mound." Somehow when he was saying that during the campaign I didn't think it meant ALL residents who support Williams. Wallace also cultivated the "against urban drilling vote" and then voted as he did on the CCF.

Filidoro and Hayden walk the talk. I support whoever they support. I know if they stand beside someone that person isn't going to turn out to be a flip-flopper- Saying whatever to get elected and then forgetting about the residents.

Anon 3:39 PM - Each individual should get a chance, but I think people are recalling past promises and history repeating itself. A lot of past candidates say they are for strong drilling stuff, and pro smart-growth and master plan to get elected, and then once they are in, their votes are anything but. Ideally, council would be made up of 5 individuals with ties to no one, but when you have 3 that were handpicked by the "establishment" you have no choice but to create a counter-establishment.

If you want the Voter's United mentality to come back. then vote vore Filidoro and Lyda. Hayden was his own man and now Filidoro speaks for him. All those written comments Lyda makes during Council meetings, who do you think writes them? Lyda? think again. Dixon may be part of the "establishment", but Wallace never has been. His wife was on the O&G Board and voted against Riverwalk.

Interesting that you would mention the Voters United.
Many of the Shiloh area residents were members of Voters United until they decided that money was more important then preservation of this town.
I'll take the Voters United mentality any day over
"Drill everywhere and anywhere and give me more and more money" mentality!
Vote for Al, Steve and Melissa!!!!
